Sauvignon Blanc

Two Invivo Sauvignon Blancs from Marlborough help you ask which shared traits might belong to the grape, and which to one producer and one place.

The background that matters

Sauvignon Blanc is New Zealand’s most widely planted variety and its flagship wine; Marlborough’s first Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted in 1975, and most of New Zealand’s Sauvignon Blanc now grows there. Sauvignon Blanc is also, with Cabernet Franc, a parent of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Read it alongside this wine

Both wines are Invivo Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, from 2025 and 2018. Their published profiles share a dry palate, high acidity and the citrus fruit, tropical fruit and herbaceous aroma groups; only the 2025 lists green fruit, and only the 2018 a bottle-age group. One producer and one region lie behind both, so a shared trait may reflect the grape, the place or the house style.

Try it with the review

List the aroma groups the two profiles share and those that appear in only one. For each shared group, ask what evidence beyond these two wines you would need before calling it a trait of Sauvignon Blanc.

These are learning prompts, not guaranteed tasting results. Separate the published facts from your own observations.
