The background that matters
The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC requires at least 85% Montepulciano, with up to 15% of other suitable red grapes, from hill or plateau vineyards. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is different: it takes its name from the Tuscan town and is based on Sangiovese.
Read it alongside this wine
Montepulciano is the only grape listed for Ortonese 2023; the 85% minimum is a rule for the appellation, not a measurement of this bottle. Its published profile records a ruby colour of medium intensity, medium acidity, tannin, alcohol and body, a medium(-) finish and five primary aroma groups (black fruit, red fruit, floral, spice and herbal), with a ‘drink now’ readiness.
Try it with the review
Compare the number of aroma groups with the medium(-) finish: does aromatic variety tell you anything about the finish? Answer from the review, not from the grape’s reputation.
These are learning prompts, not guaranteed tasting results. Separate the published facts from your own observations.
