Hoddles Creek Estate

Hoddles Creek Estate gives “estate grown” a concrete meaning: a family property, steep vineyard blocks of its own and its own winery.

The background that matters

The D’Anna family has owned the property at Hoddles Creek, in the Upper Yarra Valley, since 1960 and planted the vineyard there in 1997. The steep blocks rule out machine harvesting, so the vines are pruned and picked by hand. The estate’s own winery was built for the 2003 vintage.

Read it alongside this wine

The featured wine is listed as Hoddles Creek Estate Chardonnay, Yarra Valley 2024; the producer also makes a 1ER Chardonnay from a separately managed block, so check the label before applying cuvée details. Treat these facts as context, not as a description of the wine’s taste.

Try it with the review

When you taste the wine, or read its review where one is available, describe acidity, body and any oak impression separately. For each, note whether it rests on an observation or only on the place name “Upper Yarra”.

Learning prompts are not guaranteed tasting results; distinguish producer facts from your observations.
