The background that matters
The Mokelumne River is Lodi’s largest and most historic sub-appellation, defined above all by deep Tokay series fine sandy loam. Most of Lodi’s old-vine Zinfandel is still found on these soils.
Read it alongside this wine
The Rous Vineyard is about ten acres of head-trained Zinfandel in the Mokelumne River sub-appellation, planted in 1909 and grafted onto St. George rootstock. These facts tell you where and how the grapes grow; this guide does not use them to predict how the wine tastes.
Try it with the review
Sort what you know into three groups: the variety, the vineyard (age, training, rootstock, soil) and the glass (the review on the wine page, if one is shown, or your own notes). Then write one sentence about the wine that uses only the third group.
These are learning prompts, not guaranteed tasting results. Separate the published facts from your own observations.
